New Product: Morphing by KOS

We are very excited to announce that Candana will be the exclusive Australian suppliers of the stunning Italian bathroom brand, KOS.

The Morphing range is currently on display at our Woollahra showroom and it is one of the most popular pieces we've had so far!

The range includes everything from freestanding baths (in many configurations) to accessories like freestanding towel holders and mirrors. They've very cleverly incorporated beautiful finishes such as Cristalplant and steel into the designs and feature some of the most detailed joinery we've come across.

Designed by world renowned designers Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, the range is sculptural and sophisticated.
Morphing embodies a blend of tradition and contemporary aesthetics, new materials and echoes of classic styles.

Visit our website for more information on the range.

5 mins with... Marylou Sobel

Marylou Sobel is a Sydney-based interior designer with a huge portfolio and an even bigger passion for design. Over the past 25 years, Marylou has made her mark on design for creating timeless spaces with a bit of edge, and a lot of love.

We've had the pleasure of dealing with Marylou for many years and find her design aesthetic and professionalism a reflection of her hard work and immense talent.
Make sure to visit Marylou's new website and blog for further inspiration.

Describe your design aesthetic in 5 words…
Unique, detailed, eclectic, textures, functional

Which bathroom brand are you most likely to specify for your clients?
Boyd Alternatives, Brodware, Marblo Mojo, Philippe Starck

What inspires you to create beautiful spaces?
A huge passion for design, a keen eye, a love for textiles and all things beautiful. A desire to make peoples homes and workplaces a special, functional and aesthetic place to be in, timeless and comfortable and a place they can be proud of

Who are some international designers/architects that you admire?
Axel Vervoordt, Christian Liaigre, Kit Kemp, Piet Boon, Berni De La Cuona

If you could design anyone’s bathroom (past or present), whose would it be? And what would you do with it?
Mariano Fortuny (1871-1949) a very avant-garde designer of fabrics as well as being a painter, engraver, sculptor, photographer, set designer, lamp designer and more.
I could use his fabulous fabrics, silk or cotton, to upholster and line the walls. A Fortuny chandelier, Venetian mirrors, high ceilings and large windows with views of the Rialto bridge in Venice. It would be sumptuous and luxurious and a very special place to bathe in. I may even just design it for me...

What is your favourite bathroom product? Why?
I love Boyd Alternatives because the designs are so organic and have such presence, they really do make a statement in a bathroom.

We would like to thank Marylou for sharing her beautiful work and design insight with us.

HÔTEL AMERICANO NYC

Located in the middle of Chelsea's art gallery district lies the cool, industrial Hotel Americano.
Designed by New York-based Mexican architect Enrique Norten, this hotel boasts 56 rooms of Latino luxury and New York chic.

The hotel is part of the Grupo Habita, an exclusive group of architectural hotels by Carlos Couturier and Moises Micha.

Their first American hotel couldn't be positioned in a better spot. In buzzing Manhattan, the hotel sits across from the Highline and is surrounded by delicious restaurants and trendy bars.

Couturier worked with Paris-based interior designer Arnaud Montigny to fit out the rooms and interiors. They feature Japanese style minimalism and some of the most stunning and luxurious bathrooms you could imagine!

Up above the bustling streets of Manhattan you'll find the hotels rooftop restaurant, bar and pool set against the background of the Manhattan skyline.

Visiting NYC soon? Even if you aren't, consider taking a trip to Chelsea just to stay in this boutique and urban New York retreat.
