Colour trend... Turquoise

Teal, blue, aqua, sea foam green, ocean blue.. call it what you like, today's post is all about blue hues!

The colour of water, blue's have always been associated with wet areas. But this colour is also extremely calming and can invoke the deepest of relaxation.

A turquoise fish-scale tiled wall, a range of Moroccan towels draped over a bath or a simple teal tinged shower curtain will brighten up a space and transport you to your favourite island getaway.

Event... Grohe Dreamspray launch

Image via Grohe

18th April at 6pm, bathroom/design industry guests converged at the Argent Chippendale showroom for a presentation on the Grohe shower experience.

We were greeted with champagne and delicious canapes and enjoyed a visual presentation about the exciting new Grohe shower sprays including the Dreamspray technology.

Established in 1936, Grohe fast became a leader in the bathroom industry providing high-quality products for everyone to enjoy, as was Frederich Grohe's business philosophy.
75 years on, the company is Europe’s largest and the world’s leading single-brand manufacturer and supplier of sanitary fittings, holding roughly eight percent of the world market.

This event also provided an excuse to visit the lovely Argent showroom, which as well as featuring an extensive Grohe display also showcases Villeroy & Boch, Bette, Pomd'or and Argent's own product.

Hotel Barceló Hamburg

At the Hotel Barceló in Hamburg, modern Spanish flair is introduced to the heart of Germany. The second establishment of Spanish hotel chain “Barceló” in Germany appeals both to business and private customers thanks to its avant-garde style and absolutely central location.

After a busy day shopping or on a business trip, the 4* Superior Hotel provides well-deserved rest and relaxation in its 193 rooms and suites. Featuring a modern design with glass components and cleverly placed colourful accents, the interior lends a feeling of openness, while offering comfortable amenities for a retreat from the vibrant city.

The well-being of guests is further enhanced by the luxurious bathroom design of the Superior rooms and suites. The enamelled Conoflat shower trays from Kaldewei join the living and sleeping quarters in a harmonious convergence with the bathroom as the exclusive shower opens to both parts of the room to represent a characteristic element of the premium room concept. Guests can also relax in the extravagant Asymmetric Duo bath from Kaldewei.

The bathroom design of the Barceló optimally satisfies the requirements of today’s trend-conscious hotel guest: to be in on the action, while at the same time enjoying the highest levels of relaxation. Design baths invite to unwind, as openly designed showers are separated from the living/sleeping area of the room only by a glass panel. The Barceló thus takes up the new trend in bathroom design – that today’s modern bath is more than a purely functional place; it is a room for relaxation and regeneration in harmony with the design concept of the whole house.

This perfect combination of functionality and premium design has already earned Kaldewei products a number of prestigious design awards. Most recently, the Asymmetric Duo won over an international jury for the iF product design award 2012, whereas the Conoflat shower tray impressed the judges for the interior innovation Best of Best award 2011. The classy bathroom appointments thus optimally integrate with the modern and design-oriented overall concept of the Barceló Hamburg and underline its avant-garde flair in the heart of Hamburg.

The blue hues and curved walls are just lovely but what do you think about the overall idea, too obvious? We think it's kinda fun.

The 'other' Woollahra Village

Between Newland Street and Old South Head Road Woollahra, lies a little strip of fabulous stores where Candana resides. This strip is a chic hot spot for Sydney-siders with many boutique and exclusive shops. Unfortunately we couldn't feature all of them, but here is a sneak peek into life on Edgecliff Road.

Starting with our next door neighbours, A La Carte Design are a group of very talented designers and importers of the exclusive Poggenpohl and Rational kitchens as well as Ars Nova door and wardrobe systems. Their designs are luxurious, prestigious and high quality!

A little further down is the exquisite Mud Australia, who supply high quality porcelain home wares in an array of luscious colours. Handmade and designed in Australia, their products are even sold internationally (in places like France, NY and Belgium!). You would've seen this product featured in some of the most prestigious design mags out there but you really need to see this store in person, pictures just don't do it justice.

White Home has been a favourite of Candana's for a while. This delightful store, founded in 2007 is a response to the need for contemporary and high quality linen for the bedroom and table. A part from the beautiful linen, White Home also supplies an eclectic and modern range of home wares including candles, lighting, furniture and jewellery. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, a perfect reflection of the other stores on our strip.

Across Edgecliff road you'll find the colourful No Chintz, supplier of gorgeous textiles and soft-furnishings. Upon walking into the store you are welcomed by a visual feast of colour and pattern in their bright and sophisticated fabrics and decorative accessories. The team at No Chintz have a passion for beautiful textiles and soft furnishings, which means a continually evolving collection of in-house designed fabrics complemented by collections from a select range of international brands.

Further up Edgecliff road are Bathrooms Instyle and Cera Stone. Craig at Bathrooms Instyle has been a Candana client for approx 20 years and has always designed/built stunning bathrooms of the utmost quality and style. Their services range from the design and construction of high quality bathrooms to complete home renovations. This great showroom is an example of Bathrooms Instyle attention to detail and also features the European product supplied by yours truly!

At the best of times tile showrooms can be quite overwhelming, but Cera Stone tile gallery has a unique and completely inspirational collection of European and other international tiles that are a joy to choose from. Cera Stone have a team of interior designers who are extremely knowledgeable and helpful when making your selections.

We thought it'd probably be unfair to do a post about this strip without including us in it. So here are a few pictures of our magnificent showroom! Candana has been on this corner for just over 30 years so we have had the pleasure of watching this lovely area blossom into one of Sydney's most prominent design hubs. Come for a visit and check out all of the above stores, you won't regret it!
