Pantone Colour of 2015: Marsala

Pantone's Colour of 2015... Marsala

Pantone have just released their colour of 2015 and it is the very chic Marsala.

'Interesting on its own and a wonderful contrast for other hues, PANTONE 18-1438 Marsala serves as the foundation to the Spring/Summer 2015 palette. Sensual and bold, delicious Marsala is a daringly inviting tone that nurtures; exuding confidence and stability while feeding the body, mind and soul. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this robust shade incorporates the warmth and richness of a tastefully fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots point to a sophisticated, natural earthiness.'

The rich and warm tones of this hue will translate beautifully in the fashion world, but I think might be a bit trickier for interiors especially bathrooms. There are definitely some marsala-esque tones in our newest tapware finishes for example weathered bronze and Brodware's burgundy which will work beautifully with neutrals and white sanitaryware. So, are you brave enough to try this trend in your bathroom? 

 

 

Pantone's Colour of 2014... Radiant Orchid!

'Since 2000, the Pantone Colour Institute™ has been designating a Colour of the Year to express in colour what is taking place in the global zeitgeist. A colour that will resonate around the world, the PANTONE Colour of the Year is a reflection of what people are looking for, what they feel they need that colour can help to answer. Not necessarily the hot fashion colour of the moment, but a colour crossing all areas of design which is an expression of a mood, an attitude, on the part of the consumers.

The colour for 2014?  The captivating, magical and enchanting Radiant Orchid. An invitation to innovation, modern and versatile Radiant Orchid encourages creativity and originality. Imbued with a harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and its rosy undertones emanate great joy, love and health.'

Radiant Orchid is probably one of the harder colours to translate into the bathroom, we've put together some of our favourite Orchid-hued images as inspiration to tackle this tricky trend. 

Pairing this tone with brass tapware is a winning combination, its the type of colour that works well with both traditional and contemporary fixtures and definitely not for the faint-hearted!

Pantone's colour of 2013... Emerald Green

Pantone's colour of 2013 has been announced, and it is emerald green!

Personally, with all the brights and neon colours around I was surprised to see this particular shade of green but welcome it anyway.

This could be a sign of the sustainable impact on the world of design, as everything seems to have an organic edge and environmental inspiration behind it. 

“Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world.”

Whether it be in interiors or fashion, emerald is the colour of decadence, radiance and luxury so I'm sure we'll be seeing it everywhere in 2013.
