Barbara Hill Design

Barbara Hill is a native Texan (and former Miss Texas!) who has lived in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Santa Fe.
With a background in curating and working in contemporary galleries, Barbara has blended the art world into her design work.
Her spaces are stunning, raw and are a perfect marriage of minimal design and Texan quirk.

Just a quick note about this bathroom: Barbara exposed the undercounter basin ledge which is un-glazed and sat it atop the bench, she also left the drop-in bath without surround creating an unfinished quality which totally works in this area! So simple and brilliant, it actually looks extremely effective.

Surprise Inspiration... Fashion Week Australia 2012

Last week, fashionistas from far and wide gathered in Sydney to see what was new and upcoming in the world of fashion.

The Australian sense of style and fashion is fun, fresh and never too serious. So why not carry those trends into your home? Especially the bathroom, where you spend a fair bit of time.

Pastels, neon accents and Pantone's colour of 2012 Tangerine were all on display, so here are a few examples of how you can translate fashion trends into your bathroom and be totally styling, darling!

Isy

The Isy Stick range by Zucchetti has got to be one of my favourites. It features a sleek spout and handle design and merges mixer and spout into the one complete little package. This fab range was designed by none other than Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, and to commemorate 10 years of the Isy project they released it in colours black, white and Madras red.

Arch. Elena Zucchetti: “Our company was one of the first to develop the theme of colour in the world of tapware. In 1984 – with the Coriandoli line, designed by Raul Barbieri and Giorgio Marianelli – colour took centre-stage for the first time. This was a revolutionary breakthrough which renovated the classic cross handle tap by means of a vast range of colours. My father Mario was a firm believer in the importance of integrating disciplines and in a cross-contamination of the languages of research: a fusion of architecture and visual arts that would broaden and innovate our perception of a project. It is on this philosophy that our company strategies – past and present – are based.”

Isy is the perfect addition to a contemporary bathroom with a bit if edge.
Now with the option of classic black and white, it offers the opportunity to have fun with tiles and accessories, such as the super cool fish tiles showed here or some brightly coloured stools, towels etc.

Are you brave enough to try this trend?
